In Memory

Brian Taylor - Class Of 1977

Our  father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Brian Arthur Taylor, age 64, formerly of Duchesne, died March 12, 2023, at his home.

Brian was born October 23, 1958, in Vernal, Utah, (eight minutes before his twin, Bruce) the son of Arthur and KaraLyn Taylor.

Brian grew up in Duchesne, Utah and spent many hours working on the family farm. Beginning at a very early age, he drove tractor to haul hay in from the fields. Throughout his youth, he mastered driving all the farm equipment. He enjoyed working with the farm animals and growing crops. Brian attended school in Duchesne and in high school he excelled in wrestling and football. He was quick to make friends that remained his friends throughout his life.

He married Tracy Nielsen in 1976, they later divorced after 16 years. Brian and Tracy had four children, Redgie, Ashley, Hilary and Torrie. Brian married Valinda “Vinnie” Lane in 1993 and took on her daughter as his own, they later divorced after 27 years. Brian then met his friend, Kym Wilson, who he spent the last few years of his life with.

Brian worked for  his uncle Chad Peatross in construction, then for many years in the oilfield. He moved his family to the Wasatch Front where he worked for Overnight Trucking until he started his own contracting business. In 2008 he changed his career to trucking and ran his own trucks for several years. He began hauling crude oil from the Uintah Basin, ending his career working for Savage.

Brian’s hobbies include boating, fishing and camping on Strawberry Reservoir, gardening and canning the produce from his garden, working out, and working with animals.  He really enjoyed having horses, chickens and calves at this home in West Bountiful. He loved traveling, especially to Cabo for a break in the sun.

It didn’t matter what Brian undertook to do, he always excelled at it. He learned a work ethic from his father and worked hard all his life. He learned how to play: whether on a motorcycle, boat, fishing, a horse, or whatever, he played hard too. His father, Art, used to get mad because Brian always wanted the tractor and other equipment at full throttle; just like he lived his life.

Brian is survived by his son, B. Redgie (Kristen), Vienna, West Virginia; son, Ashley P., Roseburg, Oregon; daughter, K. Hilary (Joey) Winzenried, Enoch, Utah; daughter, Jamie (Brian) Hart, siblings, Karri (Bob) Hoopes, Duchesne; Bruce (Gail) Rexburg, Idaho; TeAnn, Roosevelt, Utah; Eileen (Trent) Potter, Duchesne; Gayleen Denney, Duchesne; Janae (Mike) Rowley, Duchesne; Robbie (Carrie) Duchesne; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Torrie, parents, Art and KaraLyn Taylor, and two sisters, Joy Lynn and Mildred.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Duchesne Stake Center, 901 North, 500 East, Duchesne, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m.

Per Brian’s wishes, he will be cremated after the services.
