Joe Moon - Class Of 1981 VIEW PROFILE

1962 ~ 2017


Joseph Ray Moon, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, died April 1, 2017 of natural causes. He was born December 10, 1962 in Provo, UT to Jerry Ray and Myrna Kay Stevenson Moon. He served in the Southern Illinois Mission and attended Dixie College, after which he worked for many years at the University of Utah library. 


Joe had an amazing imagination, thirst for adventure, and a extraordinary sense of humor. He loved to travel and was able to experience many countries of the world. He was an expert at family history and accomplished invaluable work for his ancestors. He loved cats, shrimp, and bad TV. 


Joe is survived by his mother Myrna Kay Stevenson Moon, Sisters: Rachelle Pearce, Heidi (Mike) Orr, Jennifer (Todd) Ercanbrack, Heather (Daryn) Cox, and many nephews, nieces and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, by his grandparents, and his partner Kyle Cornia. We would like to thank Joe's good friend, Scott Smith, for all the love and care he has shown to Joe as well as the rest of the family.


Funeral services will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11 am at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, Utah. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Mt. Home /Boneta Cemetery in Mt. Home, Utah. Connie Breakfield (Kalmar) (1981)

Joe was a gentle sweet soul who was always kind to me.  For all of us who remember lets reflect upon the time we spent with him and remember our interactions with him throughout highschool.
