Keven Despain - Class Of 1978 VIEW PROFILE

Keven M Despain, age 50, of Duchesne, died October 1, 2010 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City after a long illness.

He was born May 22, 1960 in Vernal to Weston
Griffith and Pauline Marsing Despain.

He married Elaine Mathews April 16, 1982 in the Salt
Lake LDS Temple.

Keven graduated from Duchesne High School where he
was an all state athlete and played four sports, football,
track, baseball and basketball. As a little league baseball
shortstop and pitcher he was on the Duchesne team that
went to the Little League World Series and as an 8 year old
he was the state champ in the “hit, run, and throw”
competition. Later in life he enjoyed coaching and watching
his boys play sports.

He worked for Moon Lake Electric for 20 years before
retiring with a disability in 2002. He was a hard worker and
was always busy doing something. He had kidney failure
and lost a leg in 2005, but got a new kidney from his
brother Terry and a prosthetic leg and soon got back into
full activity. He loved anything he could do with his boys
or daughter, fishing, camping, 4-wheeling, hunting horns,
trapping, boating, swimming, (he was the first in the water,
whether it was summer swim or the polar bear winter dip),
skiing, ice fishing, and “blazing trails of new adventures.”

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Duchesne; six
sons and a daughter, Bryan Kendall (Joann) Despain,
Myton, Logan Charles (Jerica) Despain, Landon Dean,
Keven Weston, Emily Laine, Braiden McLayne, and Dylan
Alexander Despain, all of Duchesne; five grandchildren,
Christian, Jasmayne, Bryan, Katelyn, and Kyson.
He is also survived by mother and stepfather, Pauline
Despain Bird and Buddy Bird, two sisters and two
brothers, *Kathey (Hal) Ivie, Duchesne; *Ronda Dodds,
Ohio, Burke (Chris) Despain, Montana, and Terry
(Marilyn) Despain, Duchesne.

He was preceded in death by his father, Weston.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6,
2010 at 11:00 AM at the Duchesne LDS Stake Center
where there will be a viewing Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm
and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 AM.
Burial in the Strawberry Cemetery under direction of
the Hullinger Mortuary.

David Dunkley (1978)

Dear Elaine,  I was with Kevin on our trip to California in Little League and I knew him as well as a 12 yr old can know someone.  But how are you?  It has been 6 months since he passed and I'm concerned for you.  I don't know you but I do remember you from our afternoon together in 08.  Just a little note and I hope this makes you feel better.      Sincerely,  David Dunkley.
